I had been meaning to visit Cedar Row for two years before I finally found myself there. This sanctuary for farm animals saved from abuse, neglect and slaughter, just outside of Stratford, Ontario is run by a family of four and relies solely on donations to maintain caring for their flock of farm animals such as pigs, donkeys, turkeys, chickens, goats and geese.
I attended their annual Summer of Peace fundraiser and had a lovely day enjoying the beautiful voice of local singer Emm Gryner, getting up close and personal with the rescued animals, devouring vegan desserts and connecting with like-minded people. Unlike other animal fundraisers I’ve been to, Cedar Row was fabulously 100% vegan. (This event was more than a month ago now; my apologies for the delay in posting!)
Photos of the day…
You can help Cedar Row by sponsoring one of their many rescued animals with a donation. You can also help out as a working visitor and help feed and care for the animals yourself! When else would you ever get the opportunity to cuddle a turkey?!
